Comrade Akehurst gathers sufficient strength from his sickbed to draw attention to an article in the Times telling everyone how brilliant Labour-run Hackney is. I hope Luke gets better soon. His has been a staple blog in my internet diet for many years now and I miss his daily updates on council by-election results and on the struggle to keep the Labour Party on the ideological straight and narrow.

Don Paskini points out that the efforts of councils such as Hackney have been aided in no small part by central government.
